Nursing Programs Home

The Nursing Department program requirements may include taking the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) or Comprehensive Predictor. Fees and exam dates vary for each testing program, so please consult the information on this website under each program for specific information, test fees and exam dates.

For admission into the Nursing Department programs, most applicants are required to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), which is a scholastic aptitude test that is used as one component of the selection process for admission of students into the post-secondary Nursing programs at California State University, East Bay.

The TEAS consists of four content areas: Math, Reading, English, and Science.

  • Math — This subtest covers whole numbers, metric conversions, fractions, demicals, algebraic equations, percentages, diagrams and graphs, and ratios and proportions.
  • Reading — This subtest covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions.
  • English — This subtest measures knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling.
  • Science — This subtest covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic physical principals, and general science.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Before coming to take the TEAS you must go to www.atitesting.com and register with them. When you register, ATI Testing will issue a Paper Pencil ID registration number that looks like this: A12345678 (it starts with the letter "A" followed by eight digits). Write this registration number on a paper and bring it with you on the test date. You will be required to insert this number on your answer sheet on the day of the test. If you do not insert this number on your answer sheet, your test will not be scored. Once the registration number has been issued, you can use it for every TEAS you take.
